Fall in Stowe
The best Vermont fall foliage pictures are taken in Stowe. Vermont’s Green Mountains are covered with one of the highest concentrations of sugar maple trees in this country. A remarkable tree, the sugar maple, aside from providing the sap for maple syrup, produces some of the most intense foliage colors come autumn and is the official state tree of Vermont. The colors range from deep red to scarlet to brilliant orange to salmon to gold. Every year, people come from around the world to witness the breathtaking array of colors.
Hiking & Biking
Cyclists can ride on 103 miles of road, 29 miles paved for road biking, and 74 miles unpaved for relatively easy mountain biking. Or try out the excitement at Stowe Mountain Resort’s Mountain Bike Center for lift service to over 20 trails.
Gondola & Auto Toll Road
Visitors can hike or ride the Stowe Gondola or drive the historic Auto Toll Road to the top of Mount Mansfield, Vermont’s highest peak.
